I’ve been caught on camera (by myself) saying that the ideal home art collection is about 80% originals, 20% prints. The texture and sentiment of original works lay a solid foundation, while prints thatch the roof with a contemporary edge. Something I love about museum exhibition posters is that even when the art is ultra-traditional, even stuffy, museum staff always seem to have a saucy Swede designer on staff slapping a sans-serif on top and thrusting the whole thing into modernity. See how the Odrupgaard logo made this Rodin sketch feel downright cosmopolitan?

Or how the Brooklyn Museum branding makes this image of a volcanic stone Reclining Jaguar from the literal 1400s feel editorial?
I’ve collected some of my favorite (shoppable) exhibition posters (both vintage and new) for you to peruse and make your own. If you have any questions on how to frame these, feels free to ask in the chat, but a reliable formula for museum posters is a 2”+ mat plus thin, shiny chrome frame.
Divided by artist and starting at $11.89, let’s get into it:
