Dear readers of There Y0u Are,
It’s my pleasure of pleasures to finally introduce the Paradiso print. As a subscriber, you’re the very first with access to pre-sale (link at the end if you’re impatient). Thank you so much for being here.
When I first moved to New York in 2022, I came across Dana Levin’s poem, For The Poets (included in her book Now Do You Know Where You Are). I encourage you to read it, but the piece ends wondering if the reason we write/create/make anything meant to last is to say:
It permeated through me, this “Paradiso-”. I was on the Brooklyn Promenade, young with cold air in my lungs, lit up, suddenly aware that I’d remember this feeling forever. Sidestepping street juice in my work shoes: Paradiso. Doing my makeup in the bathroom before a first date: Paradiso. Underground, on the 2 train, catching glimpses of New Yorkers flying past me in a parallel train: I was here, I, lived in it, I died in it, this shit. Paradiso—
I drew it in the margins, embroidered it on my pink sheets, and finally, worked with my best friend and artist Frannie Gembis to create this piece.
The details:
13.5”x19.5”
Mixed media (oil pastel, card stock, sun-bleached newsprint, paperclip) print on traditional broadsheet newsprint by artist Frannie Gembis in partnership with There Y0u Are. Arrives and is meant to be framed with creases.
Limited stock. Set to ship May 2025.
We chose newsprint because we want it to feel found—the way that I stumbled across For The Poets in the street, or the lost baby shoes I always seem to spot on the ground, or the soaked party horns the morning of New Years Day. A certain person notices these things and takes them home (metaphorically, yes, but sometimes physically). We are that person. The print arrives creased, and we encourage you to play with folding it, creasing it some more, crumpling it, etc. before framing it floating on top of the mat, to show off it’s texture.

As a small token of my gratitude, paid subscribers will receive priority placement in the shipping queue.
This is There Y0u Are’s first launch, and I sincerely appreciate your patience as I figure it out as I go (which, to be fair, is my strong suit).
The Paradiso Print is available for pre-order at www.therey0uare.com.
