Digital prints, reproductions, posters— they’re great. We all know I rock with a vintage museum exhibition poster. But for your art collection to feel like, well, a collection, you need some texture. I’m talking light reflecting off an oil paint glob, stray graphite crumbs, the softly curled edges of a paper collage.
I spent hours in my archives compiling my favorite pieces of original, one-of-one art. How special that you’ll be the only one to have it? To find these pieces, I used search terms tangential to tactility: “tracing paper”, “mixed media”, “strokes”, “translucent”, “re-worked”, “wood-cut”. These search terms led me away from prints, and towards original pieces with the texture I go gaga for.
I’ve divided my findings into two groups, starting at $85: black & whites, and color (hint: the $85 is in the color section). As a dog person, I was surprised by my attraction to not one but two cat pieces. Does this make me bi? Anyways, let’s start with the B&Ws:
